CONDITION OF FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS
The c o n s o l i d a t e d s t a t e m e n t of c o n d i t i o n of t h e F e d e r a l r e s e r v e hanks
on November 10, made p u b l i c by the F e d e r a l Reserve Board, shows a d e c l i n e f o r
the week of $88,700,000 i n b i l l and s e c u r i t y h o l d i n g s , a s compared w i t h an
i n c r e a s e of $70,700,000 r e p o r t e d the week b e f o r e , t o g e t h e r with i n c r e a s e s of
$35»200,000 i n c a s h r e s e r v e s a n d $6,800,000 i n n o n - r e s e r v e c a s h and a r e d u c t i o n of $4,600,000 i n F e d e r a l r e s e r v e note c i r c u l a t i o n . Holdings of d i s counted b i l l s d e c l i n e d $94,500,000 and of Government s e c u r i t i e s $2,000,000,
while open-market a c c e p t a n c e h o l d i n g s i n c r e a s e d $7,800,000.
The New York r e s e r v e bank r e p o r t s a d e c l i n e of $56,400,000 i n d i s count h o l d i n g s , Chicago a d e c l i n e of $27,600,000, San F r a n c i s c o $ 7 , 6 0 0 , 0 0 0 ,
S t . Louis $7,400,000, A t l a n t a $4,500,000, and D a l l a s $3,700,000. Discount
h o l d i n g s of the Cleveland bank i n c r e a s e d $12,800,000 d u r i n g the week. A r e d u c t i o n of $7,200,000 i n t h e New York r e s e r v e b a n k ' s h o l d i n g s of a c c e p t a n c e s
purchased i n open market was more t h a n o f f s e t by i n c r e a s e s a t t h e o t h e r r e serve banks a g g r e g a t i n g $15,100,000. The %-stem's h o l d i n g s of T r e a s u r y
c e r t i f i c a t e s were $22,100,000 above t h e p r e c e d i n g w e e k ' s t o t a l , while h o l d i n g s of Treasury n o t e s d e c l i n e d $23,400,000 and of United S t a t e s bonds
$700,000.
The p r i n c i p a l changes i n F e d e r a l r e s e r v e note c i r c u l a t i o n d u r i n g the
week include a d e c r e a s e of $6,500,000 a t the New York bank and i n c r e a s e s of
$4,600,000 and $ 3 , 3 0 0 , 0 0 0 , r e s p e c t i v e l y , a t P h i l a d e l p h i a and C l e v e l a n d .
