CONDITION OF TEE FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS
Member Bank Reserves and Related Items
During the period ended May 29, Member bank r e s e r v e s decreased
$90 m i l l i o n . The p r i n c i p a l changes reducing r e s e r v e s were i n c r e a s e s of
$210 m i l l i o n in Money i n c i r c u l a t i o n and $11 m i l l i o n i n Foreign d e p o s i t s with
Federal Reserve Banks, and a decrease of $34 m i l l i o n in Reserve Bank c r e d i t . The
p r i n c i p a l o f f s e t t i n g changes were decreases of $139 m i l l i o n in Treasury deposits
with Federal Reserve Banks and $27 m i l l i o n in Other d e p o s i t s with Federal Reserve
Banks.
The decrease of $34 m i l l i o n in Reserve Bank c r e d i t r e s u l t e d from decreases of $226 m i l l i o n in F l o a t and $120 m i l l i o n in U. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s ,
and an increase of $312 m i l l i o n in Loans, discounts and advances. Holdings of
U. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s r e f l e c t e d decreases of $114 m i l l i o n in b i l l s and
$12 m i l l i o n in n o t e s , and an increase of $6 m i l l i o n i n bonds.
