.•^0*GOVi FEDERAL RESERVE Factors Affecting Bank Reserves and Condition Statement of F.R. B a n k s For immediate release March 3, 1966 The average of daily figures of total member bank reserves held during the week ended March 2 decreased a net of $6 million to $22,098 million- Estimated currency and coin of member banks increased $138 million and their reserve balances at the Federal Reserve Banks decreased $lkh million. Estimated required reserves increased $89 million; and estimated excess reserves decreased $95 million to $292 million- Member bank borrowings at the Federal Reserve Banks exceeded excess reserves by $172 million, compared with the revised net borrowed figure of $133 million the week before. The principal changes reducing average reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks were decreases of $72 million in U. S. Government securities bought outright, $67 million in Federal Reserve float, and $56 million in member bank borrowings. The principal offsetting change was a decrease of $36 million in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks, Total Reserve Bank credit decreased $181 million. As of Wednesday, March 2, holdings of U. S. Government securities bought outright were $59 million higher than a week earlier and member bank borrowings were $8 million higher.
