Board o f Governors o f the F ederal Reserve System March 28,191*6 CONDITION OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS During the week ended March 27 member bank reserve balances decreased $89,000,000. Reductions in member bank reserves resu lted from increases o f $623,000,000 in Treasury deposits w ith Federal Reserve Baiiks and $31,COO,000 in Treasury cash, o f f s e t in p a rt by increases o f $1*80,000,000 in Reserve Bank c r e d it, $21*,000,000 in gold stock and $11,000,000 in Treasury currency and decreases o f $1*7,000,000 in money in c ir c u la tio n and $1*,000,000 in nonmember deposits iind other Federal Reserve accounts. Excess reserves o f member banks on March 27 were e s t i mated to be-approxim ately $930,000,000. Holdings o f loans, discounts and advances increased $199*000,000 and o f United States Government s e c u r itie s $382,000,000. The increase in holdings o f United S tates Government, s e c u r itie s r e fle c t s increases o f $199*000,000 in c e r t i f i c a te s , $100,000,000 in b i l l s and $83,000,000 in notes.
