OF FEDERAL E3SSRYS BASKS The c o n s o l i d a t e d s t a t e m e n t of c o n d i t i o n of t h e F e d e r a l r e s e r v e "banks on March 26, made p u b l i c "by t h e F e d e r a l Reserve Board, shows i n c r e a s e s f o r the week of $71,500,000 i n h o l d i n g s of b i l l s "bought i n open market and of $1,200,000 i n h o l d i n g s of d i s c o u n t e d " b i l l s , and a d e c r e a s e of" $32,400,000 i n U. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s , which l a s t week i n c l u d e d $29,000,000 of temporary c e r t i f i c a t e s i s sued by the Treasury to t h e F e d e r a l Reserve Bank of Hew York pending c o l l e c t i o n of the q u a r t e r l y t a x payments. Member "bank r e s e r v e d e p o s i t s i n c r e a s e d $^9,300,000, Government d e p o s i t s $17,400,000 and cash r e s e r v e s $21,000,000, while F e d e r a l r e s e r v e n o t e c i r c u l a t i o n d e c l i n e d $10,300,000. T o t a l b i l l s and s e c u r i t i e s were $4o,200,000 above t h e amount r e p o r t e d a week ago. The p r i n c i p a l changes i n h o l d i n g s of d i s c o u n t e d b i l l s f o r t h e week were i n c r e a s e s of $0,000,000 a t the F e d e r a l Reserve Bank of 2-Iew York and $1,200,000 a t Cleveland, and d e c r e a s e s of $3,200,000 a t A t l a n t a , $1,500,000 a t Chicago and $1,200,000 a t P h i l a d e l p h i a .
