Banks For immediate release March 23, 1967 The average of daily figures of total member bank reserves held during the week ended March 22, increased a net of $4l6 million to $23,704 million. Estimated currency and coin of member banks decreased $35 million and their reserve balances at the Federal Reserve Banks increased $451 million. Estimated required reserves increased $224 million; and estimated excess reserves increased $192 million to $579 million. Excess reserves exceeded member bank borrowings at the Federal Reserve Banks by $277 million, compared with the revised figure of $2l4 million the week before. The principal changes supplying average reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks were increases of $393 million in Federal Reserve float, $250 million in U. S. Government securities bought outright, and $129 million in member bank borrowings, and a decrease of $70 million in "other" F. R. accounts (net). The principal offsetting change was a decrease of $348 million in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks. Total Reserve Bank credit increased $676 million. As of bought outright securities held bank borrowings Wednesday, March 22, 1967, holdings of U. S. Government securities were $183 million higher than a week earlier, U. S.
