H.4.1 BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM For Immediate Release June 29, 1961 MEEKLY AVERAGES OF MEMBER BANK RESERVES, RESERVE B A M CREDIT, AND RELATED ITEMS and STATEMENT OF CONDITION OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS The average of daily figures of total nenber bank reserves held during the week ended June 28 decreased a net of $195 nillion to $19,101 million. Cash allowed as reserves increased $72 million and nenber bank reserve balances at the Federal Reserve Banks decreased $267 nillion. Estinated required reserves decreased $226 nillion; and estinated excess reserves increased $31 nillion to $577 nillion. Excess reserves exceeded nenber bank borrowings at the Federal Reserve Banks by $496 nillion, conpared with the revised figure of $504 nillion the week before. The principal changes reducing average reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks were decreases of $177 nillion in Federal Reserve float and $28 nillion in U. S. Government securities bought outright, and increases of $143 million in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks, $28 nillion in foreign deposits with Federal Reserve Banks, and $26 million in "other" deposits with Federal Reserve Banks. The principal offsetting changes were increases of $46 nillion in gold stock and $39 nillion in nenber bank borrowings, and a decrease of $45 million in currency in circulation. Total Reserve Bank credit decreased $167 nillion. As of bought outright securities held borrowings were Wednesday, June 28, 1961, holdings of U. S. Government securities were $71 nillion lower than a week earlier, U. S. Government under repurchase agreement were $20 million lower, and nenber bank $5 nillion higher.
