Curing the weak the govern-

ment- redeemed the l a r g e r p o r t i o n of the s p e c i a l c e r t i f i c a t e s h e l d by Reserve
Banks to cover temporary advances to the Treasury and, l a r g e l y i n consequence
of t h e s e redemptions, the amount of c e r t i f i c a t e s on hand shows a d e c r e a s e of
27.^+ m i l l i o n s .

Total earning a s s e t s were 2 5 . 5 m i l l i o n s l e s s than the week b e f o r e .

Of the t o t a l of 1 , 2 9 b . 4 m i l l i o n s of paper secured by U. S. war o b l i g a t i o n s ,
634.'0 m i l l i o n s , or 49 p e r c e n t , were secured by L i b e r t y bonds; 3 1 0 . 1 Trillions,
or 23.9 p e r c e n t , by Victory n o t e s , and 351*7 m i l l i o n s , or 27*1 p e r c e n t , by
Treasury c e r t i f i c a t e s , a s a g a i n s t 49, 23*5 ^"d 27»5 p e r cent of a corresponding
t o t a l of about 1 , 2 9 5 m i l l i o n s shown the week b e f o r e .

the Boston, New York and Cleveland Banks a r e i n c l u s i v e of 126.6 m i l l i o n s of
paper d i s c o u n t e d f o r seven o t h e r F e d e r a l Reserve Banks i n the South and Kiddle
West, a s a g a i n s t I 3 0 . 9 m i l l i o n s the week b e f o r e , while acceptance; holdings of
