CONDITIO Of FEDERAL RESERVE BAMS The consolidated statement of condition of the Federal reserve banks on January 16, made public by the Federal Reserve Board, shows decreases f o r the week of ip54,700,000 in holdings of discounted b i l l s and of $900,000 i n Government s e c u r i t i e s , and an increase of $4,100,000 in holdings of b i l l s bought in open maricet. Member bank reserve deposits increased $9,900,000, Government deposits $11, 1-00,000 and cash reserves $9,500,000* while Federal reserve note c i r c u l a t i o n declined $4g,000,000» Total b i l l s and s e c u r i t i e s were $51,500,000 below the amount held on January 9. The p r i n c i p a l changes i n holdings of discounted b i l l s f o r the week were 47°cA^ SeS $°3>900,000 a t the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and of ^7,500,000 a t Clevej.and and an increase of $19,000,000 a t Chicago.
