OF FEDERAL RESERVE BAtTKS The c o n s o l i d a t e d s t a t e m e n t of c o n d i t i o n of t h e Federal r e s e r v e hanks on January 15, made p u b l i c hy t h e F e d e r a l Reserve Board, shows d e c r e a s e s f o r the week of $125,300,000 i n h o l d i n g s of d i s c o u n t e d b i l l s and of $5,800,000 i n U. S. s e c u r i t i e s , and an i n c r e a s e of $4,200,000 i n b i l l s bought i n open mark e t . Member bank r e s e r v e d e p o s i t s d e c l i n e d $9,600,000, Government d e p o s i t s $7,300,000 and F e d e r a l r e s e r v e n o t e c i r c u l a t i o n $54,500,000, while cash r e s e r v e s i n c r e a s e d $49,400,000. T o t a l b i l l s and s e c u r i t i e s were $124,700,000 below the amount r e p o r t e d a week ago. A l l F e d e r a l r e s e r v e banks r e p o r t e d r e d u c t i o n s i n h o l d i n g s of b i l l s d i s counted, t h e p r i n c i p a l d e c l i n e s b e i n g $60,500,000 a t t h e F e d e r a l Reserve Bank of Hew York, $19,800,000 a t San F r a n c i s c o , $10,100,000 a t Chicago, $7,500,000 a t Kansas City and $6,900,000 a t P h i l a d e l p h i a . The System's h o l d i n g s of b i l l s bought i n open market i n c r e a s e d $4,200,000 and of Treasury c e r t i f i c a t e s and b i l l s $1,300,000, while h o l d i n g s of U. S. bonds d e c l i n e d $2,700,000 and of Treasury n o t e s $4,400,000. F e d e r a l r e s e r v e n o t e c i r c u l a t i o n was $54,500,000 l e s s than a week ago, a l l of the F e d e r a l Reserve banks except P h i l a d e l p h i a r e p o r t i n g d e c r e a s e s f o r the week, t h e l a r g e s t d e c l i n e s b e i n g : Hew York $13,100,000, Boston $9,400,000, San F r a n c i s c o $7,400,000, and Chicago $5,700,000.
