The consolidated statement of condition of the FeJerd.l Reserve Banks as of
Feoruary 20, 1924, made public by the Fe.eeral Reserve Board, shows D. dec:ease of
$60,300,000 in total earning assets, of which $50,20Q,OOO•vas in bills chscounteil
for member banks, accompnnie~ with decreases of $,15,400·;ooo in Federal Ree~rvs·
note circulation, and of $24,ooo,oco in member banks' reserve deposits.

A decrease of $55, COO, 000 in holcl ings of disc cuntecl bi Us is reported by the
FeJeral Reserve Bank of New Yorkj of $17,300,000 by Cleveland, and of $5,500,0CO
by Kansas City.· These Jecreases were partly offset by increases of ~7, 6::>0,000 reported by Richrnon,l, $6,4-CO,OOO by At.lanta, $5,400,0CO by San Frnncisco, ~4,500,000
by St. Louis, $2,300,000 by Philadelphia, and $1,400,000 by Minneapolis. Of the
total hollhngs of aiscounteJ bills on February 20, ~'23.3,000,0CO was secured by
Government obligations. Of this axn:mnt, $125,200,000 was secured by Liberty and
other U. s. bonos, $100,900,000 by Treasury notes, and $6,900,000 by certificates
of in€1 e bt ednes s.

Holdin,~s of acceptances bought in open market ileclined $24,600,000 during
the week, a large decline of $33,600,000 :reported by the FeJeral Reserve Bank of
New York being offset in part by increc.ses in holdings :report ecl by Kmsas City ancl
Philaclelphia. Hol:iings of Treasury notes increase,J $15,3C0,000 during the week,
while holc1ings of certificates of indebteaness declined $900,000.

Federal Reserve note circulation seclined $15,400,000, all Federal reserve
banks except Boston, New York ~~d Minneapolis reporting smaller note circulation
than a week ago.

Gold :reserves of the Federal :reserve banks declineel $2,800,000, the substantial
increase of $73,600,000 repo:rteo by New York being more than offset by decreases
reported for nine of the other :res0rve banks. Reserves other than gold declined by
$5,300,000, and non-reserve casn by $700,000.
