CONDITION OF FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS The c o n s o l i d a t e d s t a t e m e n t of c o n d i t i o n of t h e F e d e r a l r e s e r v e "banks on December 1, made p u b l i c by t h e F e d e r a l Reserve Board, shows an i n c r e a s e f o r the week of $51,^00.000 i n b i l l and s e c u r i t y h o l d i n g s and of $54,SCO;000 i n member bank r e s e r v e d e p o s i t s , and r e l a t i v e l y small d e c r e a s e s i n F e d e r a l r e s e r v e n o t e c i r c u l a t i o n and c a s h r e s e r v e s . Holdings of a l l c l a s s e s of b i l l s and s e c u r i t i e s i n c r e a s e d - d i s c o u n t s by $17,900,000, a c c e p t a n c e s purchased i n open market by $27,500,000, and Government s e c u r i t i e s by $6,000,000. The F e d e r a l Reserve Bank of P h i l a d e l p h i a r e p o r t s an i n c r e a s e of $14,200,000 i n i t s h o l d i n g s of b i l l s d i s c o u n t e d f o r member b a n k s , t h e Chicago bank - an i n c r e a s e of $10,600,000, Boston $7,300,000, and S t . Louis $3,100,000c Discount h o l d i n g s of t h e Hew York bank d e c l i n e d $3,900,000 and of Richmond $6,700,000. Open-market acceptance h o l d i n g s of t h e Hew York bank were $36,100,000 above the p r e c e d i n g w e e k ' s t o t a l , while h o l d i n g s of t h e A t l a n t a and P h i l a d e l p h i a r e s e r v e banks were $3,600,000 and $ 2 , 9 0 0 , 0 0 0 , r e s p e c t i v e l y , below the p r e v i o u s week's t o t a l s . The System's h o l d i n g s of Treasury c e r t i f i c a t e s i n c r e a s e d $31300,000 and of bonds and n o t e s $2,700,000. The p r i n c i p a l changes i n F e d e r a l r e s e r v e n o t e c i r c u l a t i o n during t h e week comprise a r e d u c t i o n of $4,700,000 r e p o r t e d by t h e F e d e r a l Reserve Bank of New York and an i n c r e a s e of $3,200,000 r e p o r t e d by Chicago.
