B-SOl Federal Reserve Board August 10, 1933# CONDITION OF FEDERAL RESERVE BANES The daily average volume of Federal reserve "bank credit outstanding during the week ended August 9, as reported by the Federal reserve banks, was $2,215*000,000, an increase of $6,000,000 compared with the preceding week aiid a decrease of $161,000,000 compared with the corresponding week in 1932• On August 9 total Federal reserve bank credit amounted to $2,220,000,000, an increase of $12,000,000 for the week. This increase corresponds with increases of $57$000,000 in member bank reserve balances and $7t000,000 in -unexpended capital funds, nonmember deposits, e t c . , o f f s e t in part by a decrease of $10,000,000 in money in circulation and an increase of $Ul,000,000 in Treasury currency, adjusted. B i l l s discounted decreased $3,000,000 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, $2,000,000 at Hew York and $8,000,000 at a l l Federal reserve banks* The System's holdings of b i l l s bought in open market show p r a c t i c a l l y no change for the week, while holdings of United States bonds increased $1,000,000, of Treasury notes $5,000*000 and of Treasury c e r t i f i c a t e s and b i l l s 000,000.
