Federal Reserve Board, April 2, 1925* CONDITION OF FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS The c o n s o l i d a t e d s t a t e m e n t of c o n d i t i o n of t h e Federal r e s e r v e banks on April 1, made p u b l i c by the Federal Reserve Board, shows f u r t h e r i n c r e a s e s of $22,300,000 i n holdings of discounted b i l l s and of $9,500,000 of acceptances purchased i n open market, and an i n c r e a s e of $14,100,000 i n Government s e c u r i t y h o l d i n g s , w i t h the r e s u l t t h a t t o t a l e a r n i n g a s s e t s went up $45,800,000. Gold r e s e r v e s went down $21,400,000, o t h e r cash r e s e r v e s $4,100,000, and n o n - r e s e r v e c a s h $4,800,000, while Federal r e s e r v e note c i r c u l a t i o n increased $500,000 and t o t a l d e p o s i t s $11,400,000. The New York r e s e r v e bank shows a d e c r e a s e of $37,700,000 in holdings of d i s counted b i l l s . The p r i n c i p a l i n c r e a s e s in d i s c o u n t h o l d i n g s reported f o r t h e week were as f o l l o w s : Chicago $14,300,000, Boston $13,200,000, Cleveland $8,400,000, San F r a n c i s c o $7,500,000, Richmond $5,400,000, and A t l a n t a and S t . Louis $4,400,000 each. The remaining banks show r e l a t i v e l y small changes i n d i s c o u n t holdings f o r the week. An i n c r e a s e of $11,000,000 in holdings of acceptances purchased i n open market i s reported by t h e Federal Reserve Bank of New York and i n c r e a s e s of $1,100,000 and $1,000,000, r e s p e c t i v e l y , a r e r e p o r t e d by P h i l a d e l p h i a and Cleveland, while the San F r a n c i s c o bank shows a r e d u c t i o n of $1,300,000 and Kansas C i t y a r e d u c t i o n of $1,200,000. The System's h o l d i n g s of U. S. Treasury notes went up $12,200,000, of c e r t i f i c a t e s of indebtedness - $1,600,000, and of U. S. bonds - $300,000. The p r i n c i p a l changes i n Federal r e s e r v e note c i r c u l a t i o n d u r i n g t h e week comp r i s e i n c r e a s e s r e p o r t e d by t h e Boston and San F r a n c i s c o banks amounting to $4,700,000 and $1,200,000, r e s p e c t i v e l y , and d e c l i n e s of $4,000,000 and $2,500,000, r e s p e c t i v e l y , r e p o r t e d by Cleveland and Chicago.
