FEDERAL Factors Affecting Condition Bank Statement Reserves of F.R. RESERVE and Banks F o r immediate r e l e a s e April 28, 1966 The average of daily figures of total member bank reserves held during the week ended April 27 decreased a net of $8 million to $22,600 million. Estimated currency and coin of member banks increased $6 million and their reserve balances at the Federal Reserve Banks decreased $14 million. Estimated required reserves increased $5 million; and estimated excess reserves decreased $13 million to $362 million. Member bank borrowings at the Federal Reserve Eanks exceeded excess reserves by $280 million, compared with the revised net borrowed figure of $310 million the week before. The principal changes reducing average reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks were decreases of $188 million in Federal Reserve float and $43 million in member bank borrowings, and an increase of $198 million in Treasury deposits with Federal Reserve Banks. The principal offsetting changes were increases of $145 million in U. S. Government securities bought outright and $43 million in acceptances held under repurchase agreements, and a decrease of $205 million in currency in circulation. Total Reserve Bank credit decreased $39 million. As of Wednesday, April 27, holdings of U„ S. Government securities bought outright were $770 million higher than a week earlier and member bank borrowings were $1,365 million lower.
