CONDITION OP FEDERAL RESERVE BAMS
The c o n s o l i d a t e d statement of c o n d i t i o n of t h e Federal r e s e r v e banks on April
, made p u b l i c by th,i F e d e r a l Reserve Board, shows d e c r e a s e s of $8,600,000 in hold
discounted b i l l s aad of $5, 700,000 in acceptances purchased i n open market
t o g e t h e r with an i n c r e a s e of $4,400,0C0 i n Government s e c u r i t y h o l d i n g s , w j t h the
r e s u l t t n a t t o t a l earning a s s e t s went down $9,900,000. F e d e r a l r e s e r v e n o t e cire.u
' 1 0 n increased $4,';00,000, cash r e s e r v e s d e c l i n e d $6,100,000, and n o n - r e s e r v e
cash increased $2,500,000.

The New York r e s e r v e bank shows an i n c r e a s e of $29,900,000 in h o l d i n g s of discounted b i l l s as compared with t h e d e c l i n e of $37,700,000 r e p o r t e d the week oefore.
r e d u c t i o n s in d i s c o u n t holdings f o r t h e week were: P h i l a d e l p h i a
* 9 , 0 0 0 , 0 u ° Cleveland $8,400,000, Chicago $8,000,000, Boston $4,400,000, San Franc i s c o $3,700,uOO, and A t l a n t a , $3,100,000. The remaining banks show r e l a t i v e l y
small changes in d i s c o u n t holdings f o r t t e Wiek.
A f u r t h e r i n c r e a s e of $.10,300,000 i n holdings of a c c e p t a n c e s purchased, in
open market i s r e p o r t e d by the F e d e r a l Reserve Brnk of New York, while a l l of
the other banks show r e d u c t i o n s a g g r e g a t i n g $16,000,000. The System's holdings of
I n i ^ 7 . n S t a t e s t r e a s u r y n o t e s went op $4,200,000 and. of United S t a t e s bonds $700,000, while h o l d i n g s of c e r t i f i c a t e s of indebtedness declined $500,000.
The p r i n c i p a l changes i n F e d e r a l r e s e r v e note c i r c u l a t i o n during t h e week
comprise a r e d u c t i o n of $9,500,000 reported by the New York bank, and i n c r e a s e s
of $7,000,000 reported, by Cleveland, $3,400,000 by Boston and $2,100,000 by A t l a n t a
