FEDERAL RESERVE G. 9 NEGOTIABLE TIME CERTIFICATES OF DEPOSIT The total of outstanding negotiable time certificates of deposit (CD's) in denominations of $100,000 or more at large commercial banks as of March 25 was $11.8 billion, an increase of $.9 billion since the February survey. A year ago all reporting banks had $18.8 billion of large denomination certificates outstanding. The certificates maturing on the April 15, June 10, and June 15 tax and dividend dates totaled $493 million, compared with $1,200 million for the corresponding survey a year ago. The average maturity of total certificates outstanding, at 4.1 months, was slightly longer than the average maturity reported for the February survey. For the comparable survey a year ago, average maturity for outstanding certificates was 3.4 months. The distribution of maturities by bank size is shown on the back of this release.
