MATURITY DISTRIBUTION OF OUTSTANDING
NEGOTIABLE TIME CERTIFICATES OF DEPOSIT
The total of outstanding negotiable time certificates of deposit
(CD's) in denominations of $100,000 or more at large commercial banks as of
January 29 was $21.0 billion, compared with $23.5 billion reported outstanding
in the December 25 survey.
The certificates maturing on the March 10, March 17, and April 15
tax and dividend dates totaled $1,466 million, compared to $2,012 million for
the corresponding survey a year ago.
The average maturity of total certificates outstanding at 3.5 months,
was slightly longer than the average reported for the previous month's survey.
For the comparable survey a year ago, average maturity for outstanding certificates
was 2.9 months.
