DEPARTMENT' STOBE SALES IN AUGUST 1936
Preliminary report
Department store sales increased from July to August "by less than the usual
amount and the Board's seasonally adjusted index was 86 percent of the 1923-1925
average, as compared with 91 percent in July and 8J percent in June.
Total sales in August were J percent larger than a year ago, although the
month had one less "business day this year. In the first eight months sales were
10 percent larger than in the corresponding period of last year.
