BANK DEBITS Bank debits for the week ending September 5, which included Labor Day observed as a holiday throughout the United States, totaled $7,383,000,000, marking a decline of $140,000,000, or of 1.9 per cent from the total of $ 7 , 529 *000,000 reported for the preceding week. The principal decreases are reported by banks in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Detroit, and Philadelphia. Small increases over the preceding week are shown for a number of the large centers, principally Baltimore, Dallas, and and San Francisco, > As compared with the week ending September 6 , 1922, which also contained only five business days, debits for the week under review shew a decrease of $253 *000, 000, smaller totals being reported for New York City, Chicago, and San Francisco, while Pittsburgh, Los .Angeles, Kansas City, and Boston show considerable increases over last year's figures. ««^bits to individual accounts were reported to the Federal Reserve Board for banks in 249 centers, of which 245 are included in the summary by Federal reserve districts.
