BANK DEBITS.

Volume of business for the week ending September 13, was $ 3 ,2 3 3 ,0 0 0 ,0 0 0 ,
marking an .increase of $3 2 7 ,0 0 0 ,0 0 0 , or about 11 per cent, over the total of
$ 7 ,4 0 6 ,0 0 0 ,0 0 0 reported for the preceding week. The increase in the volume of
-business was widespread, all the leading centers, with the exception of Baltimore,
Detroit and San Francisco, reporting larger figures than the week before,
.

As compared with the week ending September l4 , 1921, the volume of business
.for the week under review shows an increase of $ 905 , 000 ,000, or about 12 per cent*
Earger figures as compared with last year are reported for all the leading centers,
•e x ce p t Baltimore, New Orleans, Chicago and Minneapolis, the largest relative deI cline being shown for Baltimore,
The volume of business is measured by debits to individual accounts reported
to the Federal Reserve Board for banks in leading centers.
The total number of
centers reporting this week is 250 , of which l66 are included in the summary by
Federal reserve districts.
