BANK DEBITS

Board of Governors
of the Federal Reserve System
September 11, 1939

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended September 6, which included only five business days, aggregated
$7,297,000,000, or 8 percent above the total reported for the preceding week and 19
percent above the total for the corresponding week of last year, which also in­
cluded only five business days.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $6,731,000,000, compared with $6,184,000,000
the preceding week and $5,633,000,000 the week ended September 7 of last year,
