STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS
BANK DEBITS

For immediate release

Board of Governors
of the Federal Reserve System
September 11, 1937..

Debits to individual accounts* as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended September 8, which, included only five business days, aggregated
$6,473,000,000, or 24 percent below the total reported for the preceding week and
1 percent below the total for the corresponding week of last year, which also in­
cluded only five business days.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $5,91-4,000,000, compared with $7,829,000,000
the preceding week and $6,038,000,000 the week ended September 9 of last year.
