BANK DEBITS—DEBITS TO DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS EXCEPT INTERBANK ACCOUNTS

Bank debits as reported by banks in 342 leading centers for the month of
September aggregated $139,078 million, During the past three months total debits
amounted to $410,703 million or 11 per cent above the total reported for the corre
spending period a year ago. At banks in New York City there vas an increase of 19
per cent compared with the corresponding three-months period a year ago, and at
the other centers there was an increase of 7 per cent.
