G%6 BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM (For Immediate Release) November 17, 1953 BANK DEBITS TO DEMAND DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS Bank debits to demand deposit accounts, except interbank and Government accounts, as reported by banks in 345 leading centers for the month of October aggregated $150 billion. During the past three months debits amounted to SI432 billion or 5»7 per cent above the total reported for the corresponding period a year ago. At banks in New York City there was an increase of 5.3 pei* cent compared with the corresponding three-months period a year ago; at 6 other Centers the increase was 7.7 per cent; and at all other centers it was 5.2 per cent.
