BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM G.6 (For Immediate Release) November 15, 1955 BANK DEBITS TO DEMAND DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS Bank debits to demand deposit accounts, except interbank and Government accounts, as reported by banks in 3hit leading centers for the month of October aggregated $176 billion. During the past three months debits amounted to $512 billion or 12,9 per cent above the total reported for the corresponding period a year ago. At banks in New York City there was an increase of 8.8 per cent compared with the corresponding three-months period a year ago; at 6 other centers the increase was ll*,6 per cent; and at 337 other centers it was 15.8 per cent. Preliminary estimates of the annual rates of turnover of demand deposits in October are U u 7 at New York City, 26.6 at 6 other centers, and 20.1* at 337 other centers.
