STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS
BANK DEBITS

Board of Governors
of the Federal Reserve System
November 13 , 1939'

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for
the week ended November 8 , aggregated $7,517,000,000, or 21 percent below the total
reported for the preceding week and 13 percent above the total for the corresponding
week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been
maintained since January 1919 amounted to $6,845,000,000, compared with
$8,760,000,000 the preceding week and $6,087,000,000 the week ended November 9 of
last year,
