Debits to individual accounts for the week ending November 7 aggregated $9,325,000,000, or $39,000,000 in excess of the total of $9,346,000,000 reported for the preceding week, although the week under review included Election day, observed as a bank holiday in many of the reporting cities. The largest increase, $63,000,000 is reported for the Boston banks, New Orleans reports an increase of $31,000,000, and Chicago - an increase of $ l6 ,000,000. New York City reports a decrease of $102,000,000, Philadelphia - a decrease of $34,000,000, and Pittsburgh - a decrease of $24,000,000. As compared with the corresponding period of 1922, debits for the week under re view, show an increase from $8,533»000,000 to $9,355,000,000, or of about 10 per cent, Larger figures are reported by all of the more important center* except Cincinnati, which reports a small decrease. New York City reports an increase for the year of $197,000,000. Other notable increases were as follows: Los Angeles - $57,000,000, San Francisco - $36,000,000, Philadelphia and Boston - $29,000,000 each, and St. Louis — $28,000,000. Debits to individual accounts are reported to the Federal Reserve Board by banks in 253 centers, of which 245 are included in the Suranary by Federal reserve districts.
