Board of Governors
of the Federal Reserve System
May 29, 1959

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended May 24, aggregated $7,-431,000,000, or 9 percent below the total reported
for the preceding week and 8 percent above the total for the corresponding week of
last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $6,850,000,000, compared with $7,501,000,000
the preceding week and $6,314,000,000 the1week ended May 25 of last year.
