Released for publication Sunday morning, May 27j not earlier, BANK DEBITS Bank debits for the week ending May 23 tot'aled $9>609,000,000, marking a de crease of $ 5 75 , 000 ,000, or 5 .6 per cent, from the total of $10,184,000,000 for the preceding week, Srialler figures are shown for all the leading centers> except Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Detroit, and Dallas, For New York City the decrease for the week.wate $329 , 000, 000, or about 7 P©r cent. As compared with the corresponding week in 1922 aggregate debits for the week under review show an increase of $581,000,000, or 6 ,4 per cent. Larger totals are shown for all the important cities, except New York and Baltimore, Cleveland and Detroit report increases over the corresponding 1922 totals of about 40 per cent, Pittsburgh - an increase of 37 Per cent, and Los Angeles - an increase of about 30 per cent. For New York City the decrease, as compared with last year's total, was $222 , 000,000 , or 4 ,6 per cent, compared with a nominal increase shown the week before. Debits to individual accovpats were reported to the Federal Reserve Board for banks in 252 centers, of which 243 are included in the summary by Federal reserve districts.
