B A M DEBITS

Volume of "business, as measured by debits to individual accounts reported
by banks in 151 important Clearing House centers, show a 17 per cent increase
from $7,220,000,000 for the week ending May 11 to $ 8,490,000,000 for the week
ending

May IS .

larger weekly figures are shown for all the leading centers,

the increases being relatively largest in Detroit and New York City.
As compared with the correspending week in 1920, debits for the week end­
ing May IS show a decline of about $795,000,000, or of less than 9 per cent,
compared with a decline of over 20 per cent for the immediately preceding week
and of 15 per cent for the week ending May 4 .
