STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS Released for publication Sunday morning, May 2, 1920; not earlier. BANK DEBITS. S t .1126 • Federal Reserve Board May 1, 1920. Below is given the Federal Reserve Board's weekly statement of debits to individual account reported through the Federal Reserve Banks by over 150 of the country's more irrportant clearing houses. Transactions cover the weekly periods ending Wednesday,April §8 and 21 of the present year and April 30, 1919* The statement closes with a recapitulation giving Cosapfcrative figures by reserve districts for cities reporting complete data for the three weeks under review. Debits to individual account reported by clearing house ban’ts in 152 lead ing cities totaled 9 , 1+23 millions, marking a decline of 910 millions from the large total of 10,333 millions shown the week before. Lower figures are shown for all the principal centers, except Pittsburgh, New Oclaans and Kansas City, the largest relative declines being reported for tho cloaring house banks in Cleveland and Detroit. As compared with 1919 figures the totals for the week show an increase of 1,787 millions, or 23 per cent, all tho important centers, except Kansas Oity, reporting larger totals than for tho corresponding week of last yoar* DEBITS TO INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNT AT CLEARING HOUSE BANKS.
