BANK DEBITS

Board of Governors
of the Federal Reserve System
May 15, 1939

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the ■
week ended May 10, aggregated $7,359,000,000, or 21 percent below the total reported
for the preceding week and 2 percent above the total for the corresponding week of
last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $6,760,000,000, compared with $8,601,000,000
the preceding week and $6,630,000,000 the week ended May 11 of last year.
