Below is given the Federal Reserve Board’ s weekly statement of debits to
individual account, reported through the Federal Reserve banks by over 150 of
the country's mor^ important clearing houses. Transactions cover the weekly
periods ending Wednesday, March 24 and 17 of the present year and March 26
1919. The statement closes with a recapitulation giving comparative figures
by reserve districts for centers reporting complete data for the three weuks
under review.
Debits to individual account reported by 149 of tho principal clearing
house cities aggregated 9 **+56 millions, showing a decrease of about 621 mil­
lions from the total of the week before. Smaller totals are shown for all
the important centers, except New Orleans and DallasFor the week ending March 6 , 1919* debits to individual account aggregat'
ed 6,302 millions or 2,643 millions less than for the corresponding week of
the current year. For New York City an increase since last year of l,4o3
millions or about 4-5 p^r cent is shown* while for the other l4o cities the
aggregate increase is about 3'*+ Per cent.
