For immediate release

BANK DEBITS

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended March 24, aggregated $10,451,000,000, or 4 percent below the total re­
ported for the preceding week and 35 percent above the total for the corresponding
week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to 09,756,000,000, compared with 010,172,000,000
the preceding week and $7,191,000,000 the week ended March 25 of last year.
