BANK DEBITS— DEBITS TO DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS EXCEPT INTERBANK ACCOUNTS

Bank debits as reported by banks in 27k leading centers for the month of May
aggregated 60,708 million dollars. During the past three months total debits for
the same centers amounted to 192,693 million dollars or 3k Per cent above the total
reported for the corresponding period a year ago, At b&nks in Njw York City there
was an increase of 1*7 per cent compared with the corresponding three-months period
a year ago, and' at the 273 other centers there was an increase of 27 per cent.
