BANK DEBITS
Bank debits for the week ending June 1 3 , totaled $3,379,000,000, marking a de­
cline of $1 , 306 ,000 ,000, or 1 2 , S per cent,from the total of $10,135,000,000 reported
for the preceding week with its large volume of end-of-month settlements.
Smaller
figures are reported for all the more important centers, except Chicago and Portland,
Oregon. For New York City the decrease was $7^1,000,000, or 56.7 per cent of the
total decrease for the week.
As compared with the week ending June 14, of last year, total debits for the
week under review show a decline of about $400, 000, 000, or 4.3 per cent, For New York
City the decrease, as compared with last year's total, was $793.-000, 000, or l 6 per
cent, For Boston a decrease of $35lCOO>OCO, or 10 .6 per cent, and for Minneapolis a decrease of about $10,000,000 or 16 per cent are shown.
Smaller decreases are
snown for Washington, D, C. , New Orleans and Dallas. Larger totals than la^t year are
shown for most of the leading centers, particularly Philadelphia, Cleveland, Chicago,
Detroit, St. Louis, San Francisco and Los Angeles,
Debits to individual accounts were reported to the Federal Reserve Board for
banks in 250 centers, of wnich 243 are included in the sumxary by Federal reserve
districts.
