Federal Reservo Board.

Below is given the Federal soserve Board’ s regular weekly statement of total
debits to deposit account, reported through tbs Federal Reserve banks by about
150 of the country! s more important clearing houses* Transactions cover the
weekly periods ending Wednesday ,,une 25 and July 2, I919 ,
An increace of over 1,000 millions over the previous week’ s total is shown for
debits to individual account, all the larger cities reporting substantial increases
for the week* Corporate jVLsbursemsnts on account of interest and dividends and
other commercial payments customary at the close of the first half of the year ap­
parently are the principal factors responsible for the large increase* All im­
portant cities share in this increase, the clearing house banks in New York City
alone reporting an increase for the week of 425 millions, and those of Chicago an increase of over 100 millions,
Aggregate debits to bank account were likewise larger than the week before,
though increases are confined to a few cities, mainly New York, Detroit, Boston
and Baltimore. Considerable decreases in debits to bank account are reported by
Philadelphia, Chicago, Kansas City, Dallas, St. Louis and San Francisco*
