STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS ' Released for publication > Sunday morning, July 3; 7 not earlier, ‘ S t ,2097« • Federal Reserve Board July 2, 1921. BANK DEBITS Volume of business, as measured by debits to individual accounts reported to the Federal Reserve Board for banks in 153 important clearing house centers, declined from $7,874,000,000 for the week ending June 22 to $6,396,000,000 for the week ending June 29, a decrease of $978,000,000, or about 12 per cent. The most recent total is the smallest shown for any week since that ending'on March 30. Substantial redactions are reported for all the leading centers. As compared with the corresponding week in 1920, debits for the week ending June 29 are smaller by $2,063,000,000, or by about 23 per cent. This compara tively large difference between the two years is apparently due in part to the fact that the corresponding week in 1920 included June 30, a d-ay ©n which many payments are made in settlement of accounts for the month, the quarter, and the fiscal year.
