STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System BANK DEBITS January 3, 1938 Form Fft-285 For immediate release Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the week ended December 29, which included only five business days, aggregated #8,525,000,000, or 17 percent below the total reported for the preceding week and 12 percent below the total for the corresponding week of last year, which also in cluded only five business days. Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main** tained since January 1919 amounted to $7,884,000,000, Compared with $9,458,000,000 the preceding week and $9,005,000,000 the week ended December 30 of last year.
