Louses,totaled $ 7 , 572 , 000, 000, or &l,3bb,000,000 less than for the preceding week.
Smllsr totals are reported by all the larger centers, the decrease for Hew York
City alone being §343,000,000, or over 60 per cent of the total decrease for the
week.
As compared vyith totals for the week ending January 2b, 1^21, debits for the
weak under review show a shrinkage of *735,000,000, or of nearly 9 per cent.
Of
the larger centers only Los Angeles reports a larger volume of transactions than
last year. Less than average decreases are shown for Boston, Now York City and
Philadelphia, while Cleveland, Pittsburgh.and San Francisco show the largest rela­
tive declines, as conpared with figures for the corresponding week in l$2l.
