BANK DEBITS

Debits to individual accounts, as reported to the Federal Reserve Boai*d by
banks in leading cities for the week ending January 19 , 1927. aggregated
$1 3 , 552 , 000,000 or 3 .2 per cent above the total of $1 3 , 129 ,000,000 reported for
the preceding week.
Total debits for the week under review axe $25,000,000 or .6 per cent below
those for the week ending January 20, 1926. Hew York City reported an increase of
$61,000,000 and Los Angeles an increase of $25,000,000, while Chicago and Pittsburgh
reported reductions of $4-2,000,000 and $23 , 000 , 000 , respectively.
Aggregate debits for l4l centers for which figures have been published
weekly since January 1919 amounted to about $12,752,000,000 as compared with
$1 2 , 306 , 605,000 for the preceding week and $12,840,313,000 for the week ending
January 20, 1926 .
