R. 285 STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS For immediate release BANK DEBITS Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System January 21, 1941 Debits to deposit accounts (except interbank accounts), as reported by banks in leading cities for the week ended January 15, aggregated $9>111>000,000* Total debits during the 13 weeks ended January 15, amounted to $125,147,0005000, or 8 per cent above the total reported for the corresponding period a year ago. At banks in New York City there was an increase of 6 per cent compared with the corresponding period a year ago, and at the other reporting centers there was an increase of 10 per cent.
