STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS St. 4810 Federal Reserve Board', January l6, 1926. Released for publication Sunday morning, Jan. 17; not earlier. BAM DEBITS Debits to individual accounts,, as reported to the Federal Reserve Board, for banks in leading cities for the week ending January 13, aggregated $13,128,000,000 or 9.8 per cent below the total of $14,546,000,000 reported for the preceding week. New York City reported a reduction of $324,000,000 while other large decreases were as follows: Cleveland $131,000,000, Chicago $127,000,000, Boston $108,000,000 Philadelphia $92,000,000, St.- Louis $60,000,000, Pittsburgh $52,000,000, Cincin nati $45,000,000 and New Orleans $41,000,000. As compared with the week ending January l4, 1925, debits for the week under review are larger by $1,202,000,000 or 10.1 per cent. Increases were reported by most of the more important centers, the largest being as follows: New York City $760,000,000, Boston $49,000,000, Chicago $42,000,000, San Francisco $38,000,000, Detroit $30,000,000, and Los Angeles $24,000,000. Aggregate debits for l4l centers for which figures have been published weekly since January, 1919, amounted to $12,340,504,000 as compared with $1 3 , 65 5 , 967,000 for the preceding week and $11,219,491,000 for the week ending January 14, 1925* Debits to individual accounts were reported to the Federal Reserve Board for banks in 258 centers, all of which are included in the summary by Federal reserve districts.
