February 14, 1938

Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities for the
week ended February 9, aggregated $>6,429,000,000, or 21 percent below the total
reported for the preceding week and 55 percent below the total for the correspond*”
ing week of last year.
Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main­
tained since January 1919 amounted to $5,862,000,000, compared with $7,511,000,000
the preceding week and $7,968,000,000 the week ended February 10 of last year.
