Bank d e b i t s as r e p o r t e d by banks i n 334 l e a d i n g c e n t e r s f o r t h e month of
J a n u a r y a g g r e g a t e d 93,417 m i l l i o n d o l l a r s . During t h e p a s t t h r e e months t o t a l d e b i t s
f o r t h e same c e n t e r s amounted t o 233*962 m i l l i o n d o l l a r s o r 5 p e r c e n t above t h e
t o t a l r e p o r t e d f o r t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g p e r i o d a y e a r ago. At banks i n New York City
