BANK 1EBITS— DEBITS TO DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS EXCEPT IMTERBAKK ACCOUNTS
Bank debits as reported b y banks in 271+ leading centers for the month of
January aggregated 514,780 million dollars. During the past three months total
debits for the same centers amounted to 170,1+1+3 million dollars or 13 per cent
above the total reported for the corresponding period a year ago. At banks in New
York City there was an increase of \3 Per cent compared with the corresponding
three-month* period a year ago, and at the 273 other centers there was an increase
of 11+ per cent,
