STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS

BANK DEBITS
February 10, 1941

Debits to deposit accounts (except interbank accounts), as reported by
banks in leading cities for the week ended February 5, aggregated $9>859,000,000,
Total debits during the 13 weeks ended' February 5 amounted to $126,068,000,000,
or 10 percent above the total reported for the corresponding period a year ago.
At banks in New York City there was an increase of 7 percent compared with the
corresponding period a year ago, and at the other reporting centers there was an
increase of 11 percent.
