Total debits during the 13 weeks ended December 10 amounted to 0144,395,000,000, or 24 per cent above the total reported for the corresponding period a year ago. At banks in New York City there was an increase of 20 per cent compared with the corresponding period a year ago, and at the other reporting centers there was an increase of 27 per cent.
