STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS For immediate release BANK DEBITS Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System August 22, 1936 Debits to individual accounts, as reported by banks in leading cities^for tne week ended August 19, aggregated $7,806,000,000, or 4 percent above the totax re ported for the preceding week and 3 percent above the total for the corresponding week of last year. Aggregate debits for the l4l cities for which a separate total has been main tained since January 1919 amounted to $7,186,000,000, compared with $6,912,000,000 the preceding week and $ 7 , 051, 000,000 the week ended August 21 of last year.
